The Kennedy's Disease
Association is committed to promoting medical
research to find a treatment and possibly a cure
for Kennedy's Disease.
Thanks to the
generous donations of so many this past year, the KDA’s board of directors has approved the funding
of $50,000 in research grants. Applications were
accepted through September of 2007. The
Scientific Review Board with the assistance of
other researchers reviewed the proposals and
recommended the finalists

Current Fundraising
Challenges
Ed Meyertholen and Sean Blasko are participating
in the Runtex Distance challenge, a series of
seven races starting in September 2007 and
culminating in February 2008 with the Austin
Marathon. Total distance covered will be 87
miles!

Mike and Paula Goynes
have been walking & rolling for several months now
and plan to continue doing so indefinitely.
Someday Mike hopes to be able to once again walk
with Paula but, for now, I will keep rolling
beside her in my power chair or golf cart. She is
walking between 10,000 and 20,000 steps a day!

KDA Funded Research Update
Chawnshang Chang, Ph.D.
and a team of researchers at the
University of Rochester Medical
Center have published the attached
news release concerning their
research that could potentially
lead to a treatment for Kennedy's
Disease. The article was
published in the March 6 issue of
the journal Nature Medicine. Read

Thanks to the generous support
of our associates, Dr. Chang
received a $25,000 research grant
from the Kennedy's Disease
Association last fall.
