The Kennedy's Disease Association is pleased to have the support of so many who care deeply about finding a treatment and ultimately a cure for Kennedy's Disease. We have been fortunate to have raised enough funding to award the following grants and to receive updates from the recipients of these grants in regards to their progress. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- J. Paul Taylor, M.D. Ph.D., University of Pennsylvania Drosophila melanogaster (fruitfly) model system to investigate the molecular pathogenesis of Spinal and Bulbar Muscular Atrophy $25,000 Grant awarded November 14, 2003 - Funds made available January 2004 February 2004 - "Initial efforts will be inducing the expression of polyglutamine-expanded androgen receptor in neural tissues and characterizing the phenotype, extending some previous studies." -- Dr. J.
