The Kennedy's Disease
Association is initiating a new
funding opportunity for research
into the molecular pathogenesis of
Kennedy's Disease (Spinal and
Bulbar Muscular Atrophy). The
discovery of a polyglutamine
expansion within the androgen
receptor as cause of this
degenerative neuromuscular disease
has led to the elucidation of
several potential therapeutic
cellular targets. Research grants
are being sought to further the
understanding of pathogenic
mechanisms in Kennedy's Disease,
as well as to develop assays for
drug screening and testing of
candidate compounds. Funding for
research grants will be $25,000
for one year.
